The Storting has elected new auditors for the period 2026–2029 and adopted a delegation of authority to the Storting's Presidency to approve the auditor's other positions. The election of auditors ensures that the auditor's college is composed in accordance with the political composition of the Storting.

The Supreme Audit Office is the Parliament's auditor that controls that the state's assets are used in accordance with the Parliament's decisions and assumptions. The Parliament has now elected five Supreme Auditors with personal deputies who will make up the Supreme Auditor's College for the period from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2029. The election is based on an recommendation from the Parliament's Presidency, and the composition should reflect the political composition in the Parliament. In addition, the Parliament has adopted to delegate the authority to approve whether the leader of the College can have other positions or positions to the Presidency. This means that applications for such positions no longer need to be processed by the Parliament in plenary, which is considered more appropriate.

The Supreme Audit Office is the Parliament's independent auditor of the state administration and accounts. The Supreme Audit Office's board consists of five auditors elected by the Parliament for a four-year term.
