The Storting has unanimously adopted the Committee on Elections' recommendation for new members of the Bank of Norway's Representative Body for the period 2026–2029, and has also decided on the remuneration for the positions. The Representative Body supervises the Bank of Norway and ensures that the Central Bank Act and other provisions are followed.

The Norwegian Parliament's Standing Committee on Finance has elected seven new members to the Bank of Norway's Representative Body for the period 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2029. The Parliament has also elected a chair and deputy chair for the period 2026–2027, and has decided on the remuneration for the members and the Standing Committee (the Permanent Committee) from 1 January 2026. The decision was unanimous in accordance with the recommendation of the election committee.

Hva er dette?

The Norwegian Bank's Representative Body is a supervisory body for the central bank. It consists of 15 members elected by the Storting for four-year terms. The Representative Body supervises that the bank's activities are in accordance with the law and regulations, and that the bank's accounts are correct.

Hvorfor kom forslaget?

The election is a statutory duty for the Storting to ensure continuity in the supervision of Norges Bank, as the terms of office of some members expire.
