The Storting has unanimously elected Øyvind Vaksdal as a new member of the Storting's Ombudsman Committee for the Armed Forces. The election was made as a supplementary election after Morten Kolbjørnsen was elected to the Storting and therefore had to resign from the committee.

The Parliamentary Ombudsman for the Armed Forces is an organ that is responsible for supervising the defence sector and safeguarding the rights of military personnel. When a member of the Ombudsman's Committee is elected to another position, such as being elected to the Storting, the Storting must hold a supplementary election to fill the position. In this case, Morten Kolbjørnsen was elected to the Storting, and the Progress Party proposed that Øyvind Vaksdal should take over the position until 2025. The Storting unanimously adopted this proposal.

Hva er dette?

The Parliamentary Ombudsman for the Armed Forces is a control body appointed by the Parliament. The Ombudsman shall supervise the defence sector and ensure that military personnel have their rights and interests protected.
